Welcome to the open meeting of the “Show Me Group” of Alcoholics Anonymous where our slogan is “You are strangers no more”. My name is_________________ and I am an alcoholic. I will be the chairperson for this meeting. My sobriety date is_______________________. Will you please join me in a moment of silent prayer or meditation followed by the Serenity Prayer.
“GOD GRANT ME THE SERENITY TO ACCEPT THE THINGS I CANNOT CHANGE, THE COURAGE TO CHANGE THE THINGS I CAN, AND THE WISDOM TO KNOW THE DIFFERENCE.”
Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength, and hope with each other so that they may solve their common problem and help others recover from alcoholism. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are no dues or fees for membership; we are self-supporting through our own contributions. AA is not allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organization, or institution; does not wish to engage in any controversy; neither endorses nor opposes any cause. Our primary purpose is to stay sober and help other alcoholics achieve sobriety.
Please refrain from cross talk during the meeting.
Is anyone here for the first time, or any visitors?
Have “How It Works” read.
Have the “Twelve Traditions” read.
Ask if anyone is attending their first meeting. Please privately message the newcomer your phone number and name.
Ask if anyone is celebrating 30 days, 60 days, 90 days, 6 months, 9 months. Let us know in the chat!
Birthdays are celebrated the last Sunday of the month at the 11:00am meeting. Celebrants please add your name and how many years you are celebrating on the Google Drive “birthday” spreadsheet.
Are there any AA related announcements other than our permanent announcements?
If anyone has any questions about AA, please feel free to get with me after the meeting.
Chairpersons are needed. The requirements are 3 months continuous sobriety and be working the steps with a sponsor. The requirements to chair the newcomer meeting on Sundays at 8 p.m. are ONE YEAR continuous sobriety and be working the steps with a sponsor. You may sign up to chair on the Google Drive Calendar.
This is an open meeting of Alcoholics Anonymous. We are glad you are all here. In support of AA’s singleness of purpose, we ask that all who participate limit their discussion to their problems with alcohol.
15 MINUTES PRIOR TO THE CLOSE OF THE MEETING
SEVENTH TRADITION: there are no dues or fees in AA. We are self-supporting through our own contributions. We ask that those who are here for the first time consider themselves our guests and refrain from contributing.
During our temporary closure, the 7th tradition contributions will help continue to pay the rent and utilities of the building. We have created a Show Me PayPal account to collect contributions at this time.
AT THE CLOSE OF THE MEETING
May we remind you that whatever has been said at this meeting, either by me or any other speaker, expressed an individual opinion. We do not speak for AA as a whole, and you are free to agree or disagree. It is recommended that you pay attention to only what you can reconcile with what is in the BIG BOOK of Alcoholics Anonymous or other conference approved literature.
Have “Promises” read.
Sponsorship – You can pick your own sponsor. There is literature to help with this process on www.aadallas.org
Ask “If you have worked the 12 Steps of AA, if you have a sponsor, and if you are willing to share that experience with someone, please say you’re willing in the chat.
Anonymity is the spiritual foundation of all our traditions. Please respect this and treat in confidence who you see and what is shared here.
Close with the Chairpersons’ choice of the Serenity Prayer or the Lords’ Prayer.
